Slow icon loading fixed by increasing icon cache.

windows-slow-icon-loading-problem

Hello guys today I am back with solution of a very common problem generally everyone face the slow loading of icons in windows explorer. We all are sometimes get tired of waiting for the icons to load in windows explorer the main reason for the problem is the very low cache size for the icons in windows explore which is 500Kb by default. Such a low size results in continuous clearing of the cache resulting in the slow loading of the icons. There is a very simple registry hack to counter this problem. So let us start with the solution.
1.     First of all, you need to create a backup of your system registry and for that you need to follow the instructions below.
·        Press Windows + R button on your keyboard and type in “regedit” and press enter
·        The windows registry editor will open up. Browse to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer” in left pane right click on the Explorer and click Export.
·        Browse for the path where you want to create the backup and click “Save”
2.     Now we have to create a new string named “Max Cached Icons” in the path “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer” and set its value to “5120” which means 5 Mb.
3.     Click Ok and restart your system the slow icon loading problem should be gone.

And that is all you need to do to get rid of the problem.
